DeWalt Donates Thousands In Tools To SAFER

NEW ORLEANS, LA: January 7, 2008

Industrial tool and accessory manufacturer DeWalt recently donated over $3,000 in power tools and supplies to Student Advocacy for Equitable Recovery (SAFER), a New Orleans-based non-profit group. Founded by two Tulane University students in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, SAFER coordinates student volunteers from around the country to rebuild New Orleans homes. SAFER is an officially recognized student organization at Tulane University, and operates from an office on the university campus. The non-profit’s staff of seven full-time volunteers has led over 1,200 individual volunteers in recovery efforts throughout New Orleans. DeWalt’s donation will allow SAFER to continue its non-profit work, which has previously included clearing flood debris from over 90 homes and rebuilding 14 additional homes.
